NYE Plotting
Dec. 18th, 2015 11:50 pmNew Year's Eve! That time for parties, bad decisions, resolutions, and of course end of the year TV specials! So will it be this year, too, when Lucifer's Very ImPortant New Year's Show! goes live. Yes, live TV. For charity. With Lucifer. Aren't you all so excited? Anything could happen!
Now here's the exciting thing, anyone and everyone can get involved with this. The event will be in the form of an imPort party, thrown on a large sound stage, and guests will be entertained with music and food and live recording. Like any good end of the year hootenanny style show, viewers will enjoy watching their favorite imPorts hang out with each other on candid camera, catch snap-aways to them during comedy sketches, watch live, unpredictable interviews as the host elects to give them, and of course enjoy prerecorded snippets of other fantastic imPort shows, like Winger Man! Furthermore, viewers will be able to phone in to make donations, speak to their favorite imPorts live, or propose questions that they'd like their host to ask one of the other guests. Oh, and best of all, Dorian Grey and the Hedonists will be performing their new hit single "Santa Baby" live, just after midnight.
Basically, your characters are the world's entertainment. But never fear: it's for charity, right? Right. All the money raised by the events of the night will go to the Society for Institutional Safety, or SINS for short, a society that trains people in positions of responsibility, such as bus drivers, teachers and nurses, what to do in a national emergency, say for example during a ground invasion, import vs import violence, oranother zombie apocalypse.
So, there are going to be a bunch of ways to get involved, here are some of those ways:
As a presenter: Characters who have their own shows can prepare their own snippets to be posted as part of the show. This is basically free advertising, so long as it features a slight slant toward the charity. Alternatively characters can present their own section of the live show, interview other guests, sing or otherwise perform in front of the audience, whatever you have in mind. This requires at the least some OOC communication with me, and a suitable starter to be prepped for the event log, but we can handwave IC organization if you prefer.
As a volunteer: Volunteers will be manning the telephones for at least some part of the evening, in order to take calls from donors, but they will also be in the firing line from other imPorts playing at being/or not so anonymous. This will be like network style conversation, but with phones, so it gives your character something to do.
As a guest: Just there for the show and the free booze/food, and fifteen minutes of fame? Great. Your character can mingle, or take a seat at one of the round tables and end up in the firing line for any inappropriate interviews. Best hope they don't say anything on TV that they can't take back.
As a viewer: Watch from the safety of your home, text along with the show. There will be a commentary section just for this. Better still, phone in to the telefon! For one tiny donation, your character can anonymously prank call any character manning the phones.
There will be invitations sent out to any character who has an address posted, but also Lucifer will be posting a promo for the show to the network. An event log will be posted on New Year's Eve/New Year's Day for all your logging needs. That's it. Any more ideas are absolutely welcome, and please ask any questions below.
